How to calculate how many acoustic wall panels you need
Measuring your wall before ordering acoustic panels helps you choose the right quantity and plan your layout with confidence. Start by measuring the widest and tallest parts of the wall in metres. Multiply the width by the height to find the total wall area, then use the calculator above to estimate how many panels are needed.
The standard Quietwalls acoustic panel measures 2440mm × 520mm and covers approximately 1.27 square metres. The narrower Profi acoustic panel measures 3000mm × 152mm and covers approximately 0.456 square metres. Choose the panel style you prefer in the calculator and it will calculate the quantity based on your selected wall coverage.
If you are covering a full wall, you will generally need enough panels to cover the complete area, allowing for cuts around sockets, doors, switches and skirting boards. If you are creating a feature wall behind a TV, bed, desk or dining area, select the coverage option that best matches the area you want to finish.
Do acoustic wall panels need to cover the full wall?
No. Full-wall coverage creates a strong design statement and provides more acoustic treatment, but it is not the only option. Many customers use panels on one section of a room to create a feature wall and add warmth, texture and depth to the space.
Partial panel coverage can work especially well behind a TV, bed, desk, dining table or reception desk. In larger open-plan rooms, cafés, salons and commercial spaces, placing panels on the walls where sound reflects most can help make the room feel calmer and more comfortable.
Acoustic treatment vs soundproofing
Acoustic wall panels are designed to help reduce echo and improve how a room sounds and feels. They are a practical option for rooms with hard floors, bare walls, glass and high ceilings. However, they are not a complete soundproofing solution and will not fully stop sound travelling through walls, floors or ceilings.

Should I order extra acoustic panels?
The calculator provides an estimate for a straightforward wall. Consider allowing an extra panel where you have sockets, uneven walls, awkward cuts or would like spare material for future use.
Will acoustic wall panels soundproof a room?
Acoustic panels are mainly used to reduce echo and improve sound quality within a room. They do not fully prevent sound from travelling through walls, floors or ceilings.
Can I use acoustic wall panels on a feature wall?
